岩水亞沙子出生於日本福岡，現居東京。最初從事時尚設計，擔任多個品牌的服裝與針織設計，並涉足活動PR服裝領域。2008年，她離開時尚界，專注於藝術創作，每年舉辦多次個展與聯展。
2010年，她獲得ST設計獎特別獎，並將作品「細胞」推向產品設計領域。2015年，她在法國盧浮宮的藝術展演備受矚目，並登上當地報紙。同年，她獲得松濤美術館大獎，並受東京渋谷區區長嘉獎，作品在國際間廣受好評。
2016年，她受日本傳統木目込人形技法啟發，創立「針織藝術」，融合針織與時尚，創作出俏皮且充滿個性的藝術作品，如「細胞」、「日本髮型」及「動物」系列。她的作品結合傳統與流行元素，以活潑色彩傳達愛與喜悅的理念，並持續在全球展覽。
除了創作，她亦積極舉辦工作坊，推廣針織藝術的魅力。關注環保與可持續時尚，她利用服裝廢材進行創作，探索材料的美感與珍貴性。2017年起，她開設針織藝術課程，並持續在國內外發表作品，推動針織藝術走向國際。
sako Iwamizu was born in Fukuoka, Japan, and currently resides in Tokyo. She initially worked in fashion design, creating clothing and knitwear for multiple brands and engaging in event PR fashion. In 2008, she left the fashion industry to focus on art, holding numerous solo and group exhibitions each year.
In 2010, she received the ST Design Award Special Prize and introduced her artwork series Cells into the product design field. In 2015, her performance at an art exhibition in the Louvre, France, gained significant attention and was featured in local newspapers. That same year, she won the Shoto Museum of Art Award and received recognition from the Mayor of Shibuya, Tokyo, earning widespread international acclaim for her work.
Inspired by the traditional Japanese Kimekomi doll-making technique, she launched “Knit Art” in 2016. This unique artistic approach merges knitting and fashion to create playful yet distinctive pieces, including the Cells, Japanese Hairstyle, and Animals series. Her works blend traditional and contemporary elements, using vibrant colors to express themes of love and joy while continuing to be exhibited worldwide.
Beyond her creative endeavors, Iwamizu actively organizes workshops to promote the beauty of knit art. Advocating for sustainability and ethical fashion, she incorporates textile waste into her work to explore the aesthetic and intrinsic value of materials. Since 2017, she has been offering knit art courses while consistently showcasing her work both in Japan and internationally, pushing knit art onto the global stage.
