The landscapes seen through windows. The skyline at night. The open skies of autumn…
The everyday sights we all see. To compose is to scrape away the unnecessary pieces and boldly produce something new. The scenery that at times appears abstract, but is also filled with geometric patterns–the sights we see every day–become, through Togasaki’s filter, one and the same with the rarer sights that do not meet our eyes on a daily basis. The border breaks down between ordinary and unusual days, and thus has new value. These ideas are presented in her works. They are not simply to be appreciated by an audience, but meant to ask questions to the audience, and to encourage them to use their imagination.
